Everyday,
dozens of articles are published about the unhealthiness of the
American diet. Nearly 65% of adults and 15% of children, aged 6 to 19, are
overweight, and nearly a third (31%) of the adults are classified as obese,
according to the National Center for Health Statistics of the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention.
Consumers want a healthy life but are not willing to trade off
convenience or taste to get it! According to a Food Marketing Institute Healthy
Lifestyles report, consumers said their diets could be somewhat or a lot
healthier if they could overcome several obstacles.
They are searching for credibility when it comes to nutritional
claims. With so much misleading and oftentimes contradictory information in the
marketplace, it's difficult to gain consumers' trust. According to the
Sunflower Research Group, 89% of respondents ranked the American Heart
Association's heart check mark as "very important" or "important" in making
buying decisions.

As a country, we are exercising more, growing older and becoming more aware of
